Linda Joyce Garrett's Obituary
Linda Joyce Garrett, age 79, passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 4, 2022. She was born to Arthur Hansel and Bessie Mae House on June 22, 1943 in Dallas, Texas.
Linda was an elementary school teacher for several Texas schools before transitioning to school librarian. She served as a school librarian for decades in Dallas including Bayles Elementary and Bryan Adams High School before she accepted the position as the Director of Library and Media Services for the Dallas Independent School District where she retired.
Linda earned four degrees, including a Ph.D. from Texas Woman’s University. She was also an adjunct professor at Texas A&M Commerce.
She deeply enjoyed spending time with the ladies and teaching her LOGOS Sunday School Class at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church and volunteering at the Rockwall Library.
She was preceeded in death by her parents Arthur and Bessie House, and her husband, David Garrett.
She is survived by her son and his wife Bryan and Dana Lankford and four grandchildren. She is also survived by her son and his wife James and Cindy Lankford and her granddaughters Hannah and Jordan Lankford.
She is also survived by her sister Carolyn Walthers, her nephew and his wife Kevin and Shannon Walthers and their son Trey and her nephew David Walthers and his daughter Breanna.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 9:00am to 10:00am; with the Funeral Service starting at 10:30am at 1st Baptist Church of Sunnyvale - 3018 N. Belt Line Rd., Sunnyvale, Texas 75182
