Jack Cooper
Lloyd was my roommate at Sul Ross our freshman year and my fraternity brother. Lloyd and I, along with another friend, traveled to Fort Collins, Colorado, to meet with the national office of The Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lambda.
The trip is one that I will always remember. Lloyd was so funny, the three of us had a great time that we always talked about.
We returned to campus and started the Beta Gamma Colony of AKL. Lloyd was instrumental in organizing our programs for membership and classes. We all worked together to become a full chapter of AKL.
One of our most successful projects was co-ordination of Earth Day on Campus. Lloyd worked very hard to see that everything went smoothly from beginning to end. While my campus activities led me away from active participation in AKL, Lloyd stayed active and helped to keep the chapter involved in not only campus activities but also working with local groups in Alpine.
Through all these years I have met many people, but very few have left me with such a feeling of friendship that I had with Lloyd. We lost touch after graduation, but I’ll always think of our trip to Colorado and the fraternity activities.
