Mack A Holmes' Obituary
Mack Arthur Holmes passed away on June 26, 2024, at the age of 81 surrounded by his loved ones. Mack was a Godly man who had an unwavering faith in God, an immense love of his family, and found great joy in spending time with many lifelong friends.
Mack was born September 15, 1942, and was the beloved only child of A.D. and Ann Holmes. He grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas and lived in the Dallas area his entire life. As a child and teen, he was an active member of Grace Temple Baptist church and came to know and love the Lord and make lifelong friends through the youth group he attended there. He graduated from Sunset High School in 1960 and went on to attend the University of North Texas and was an active member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
Mack loved being around people and was a natural salesman. After college, he went to work at IBM and then spent many years working in sales at Government Records.
His greatest love was his wife of 54 years, Terri Holmes. He was also a loving father to his two daughters, Sara and Abby, and a devoted grandfather to his five grandchildren.
Mack and Terri have been active members of Prestonwood Baptist church for 45 years. They have been a part of a wonderful LifeGroup class throughout the years that led to many precious lifelong friendships. Mack was a deacon and had a passion and talent in teaching & served as a class teacher for many years.
Mack loved spending time with friends and family. He was a wonderful storyteller and entertainer. In addition to being a people person, Mack loved going hunting, fishing and playing golf. He had lifelong friends that he enjoyed spending time with on the golf course and deer lease over the years. He also loved country music and old western movies. He was always ready with a song lyric from a favorite song to fit any occasion.
Mack is survived by his wife, Terri Holmes, and his daughters & son-in-laws, Sara & James Graham and Abby & Michael Yocum. As well as his five grandchildren, Kate & Claire Graham and Caroline, Ava, & Brody Yocum.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 1st at 3:00 PM at Prestonwood Baptist Church chapel. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30th from 3:00-5:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home.
