Madeline Eloise Townsend's Obituary
Longtime Richardson resident, Madeline (Lynn) Townsend died peacefully on 1/22/23. She was born 11/22/33 in Gainesville, Florida to David Houston and Madeline Hobson. She was raised by her step parents, David and Madeline Faulk Stevens in Durant, Oklahoma.
Lynn married her high school sweetheart, Bob Townsend in 1952. She was a proud mother to four children. She moved to Richardson in 1958 when Bob took a job with Texas Instruments. Lynn loved travelling and could talk for hours about her trips. She was preceded in death by her step parents, parents, husband and son, Kurt Stevens Townsend.
She is survived by three children and their families: Valerie and husband Lewis McMahan with their family: Michael and Amy McMahan, David and Corrie McMahan-- Kret and wife Robin Townsend with his children and spouse Barrett Townsend, Adrian and Hunter Kuykendall, and Jackson Townsend. Kevin and wife Jeri Townsend with their children and spouses Julie and Chas Matthews and Kyle and Becca Townsend. Also surviving Lynn is Margaret Townsend-a faithful daughter in law and great friend.
She loved all the great grand children: Parker, Maddie, Lewis, Melanie, Caroline, Kennedy, Hunter, Brooklyn and Brett. Four half sisters and brothers also survive her: Sam Houston, Wally Houston, Betty Lou Rogers and Janet Williams-all of Florida.
Lynn loved her husband’s work with the Richardson City Council for many years. She especially loved being the Mayor’s wife for the years he served.
Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Richardson or the Richardson’s Women’s Club. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, January 27th at 11:00AM at First United Methodist Church Richardson. A reception in the parlor will follow.
