Margaret Ann Allison LaPrade's Obituary
Margaret Ann Allison LaPrade was born on September 28, 1933, in Dallas, Texas, and passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 90. She was the daughter of the late Walter Elisha Allison and the late Nance Fay Christian Allison. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John H. LaPrade, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 82; and by her grandson, Michael Edward LaPrade. She is survived by her sons Kenneth LaPrade of El Paso and Douglas LaPrade of Dallas; daughter-in-law Luz del Carmen LaPrade (Kenneth) and their sons John Kenneth LaPrade and Paul David LaPrade, and his wife Alessandra Narváez Varela, all of El Paso; and her caregiver of nine years Rosemary Ortiz. Margaret graduated from Forest Avenue High School and attended Southern Methodist University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1953. She met John H. LaPrade in a Spanish class at SMU, and they were married in 1953. A lifelong educator, she taught for 31 years (1969-2000) in five high schools in the Dallas Independent School District: Bryan Adams, Lincoln, Metro North, Kimball, and North Dallas. She served her students as advisor in special programs such as Upward Bound and Academic Decathlon.
Visitation and a memorial service will take place on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home: visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM; memorial service at 2:00 PM.
