I have some many memories from my aunt Mary. I spent 3 months with her and the family when I was 14years old. This trip was one the milestones in my life. My aunt taught me a lot of things. She taught about appreciating the fine things in life. The summer I was there I remember her preparing well balanced meals, making sure the house was perfect before my uncle would get home. She loved my uncle so much. She had that container too, that looked like a big corn with the chocolate chips in it. Oh my! I would have to examine the backside of each cookie before deciding which cookie had the most chocolate chips. Although, she did t want me to have more than one collie, she never interfered with the selection process. I took the recipe with me when I went back to Greece that fall. It was a huge success. The last couple of years, we spoke on the phone from time to time. As always caring, she would advise me. We would chat, gossip, laugh, lament the loss of my mom that we were missing so much. In a way talking on the phone with each other we were making up for that loss. It was a special time. It was “our time”. I will always remember my aunt Mary fondly. she was a genuine, caring, down to earth lady. She was lovely!I think she was ready to go. Wherever she is, I hope she having coffee over the phone with my mom, like she always did.
