Maria Tsacrois Molett's Obituary
Maria J. Tsacrios Molett, affectionately known as YiaYia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on August 16, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Born and raised in Clearwater, Florida, the beach always held a special place in Maria's heart. From the very beginning, Maria’s life was touched by faith; upon her birth, His Eminence Archbishop Michael of the Greek Orthodox Church of America visited her family’s home, Shores Edge, on Clearwater Beach, to bless her. Throughout her life, Maria was guided by the spiritual presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Germanos Polizoides, a cherished family friend who spent many Easter Sundays with them, offering blessings to Maria and her family.
Maria was a compassionate and accomplished woman who dedicated her life to helping others. Her first job after graduating in 1967 was as a librarian at Florida State University. Philanthropy was important to her and she volunteered often through organizations such as; Garland Junior League, her church, Philoptochos, PTA Board, Leadership Garland, Book Clubs, Exchange Club, and was appointed by Governor George W. Bush and Governor Rick Perry where she served for 10 years on CSOT, setting standards and guidelines which played a crucial role in the state's public safety strategy. She earned a Master’s Degree working as a therapist and created a nonprofit counseling agency. She was a highly respected psychotherapist, presenter, trainer, writer, and researcher. Her dedication to her field and her genuine passion for assisting those in need touched countless lives. Throughout her career, Maria was known for her unwavering commitment to the well-being of her clients and her profound impact on the field of mental health.
Maria married the love of her life, Michael Molett, and together they built a beautiful life. They traveled all over the world and some of her favorite vacations took place in Charleston South Carolina, Greece, Europe, and Tarpon Springs. Michael preceded her in death in 2019, and Maria’s passing comes just weeks before what would have been their 54th wedding anniversary. Their love story was one of deep connection and shared devotion, and they are now reunited in peace.
Maria is survived by her loving daughters, Alexis Anderson and Tabitha Molett. She was a proud and doting YiaYia to her granddaughters, Sophie and Alexandra Anderson. Maria’s granddaughters cherished the time they spent baking traditional Greek delicacies like spanakopita and baklava, which they fondly declared the “World’s Best.” Maria had the joy of watching her eldest granddaughter graduate from high school and college, and she celebrated her youngest granddaughter's high school graduation with immense pride. Her unconditional love and support for her family will be felt forever. Maria is also survived by her brothers, John and Frank Tsacrios, her sons-in-law, Matthew Anderson and Mark Lewis, and her sister-in-law, Felio Tsacrios.
