Marilynn Jane Slagel's Obituary
Marilynn Bjornstad Slagel born September 6, 1927 in La Crosse, Wisconsin passed away February 28, 2016 in Richardson, Texas. Born and raised in Wisconsin farmland, Marilynn left for nursing school during WWII, graduating as a registered Nurse. Travelling with her husband, a career Air Force officer, allowed her to serve in many hospitals. She was a compassionate nurse, as well as a nurturing mother and devoted grandmother. A kind and gentle spirit, may her memory be eternal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Halfdan and Olga Bjornstad. Marilynn is survived by her husband, Ronald V Slagel; daughter, Linda and husband, Dennis Bryant; son, Steven Slagel; grandchildren: Leon Townes-Von Stauber and wife, Kris; Stephanie Hilscher; Angela and husband, Curtis Rowe; five great grandchildren: Bret, Jacob, Aenea, Serina, and Wyatt; Niece, Ruth and husband, Eddy Webb. The visitation for Marilynn Slagel will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Marilynn will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 9:30 AM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Following services, Marilynn will be laid to rest at the DFW National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. Marilynn’s husband, Ronald, suffers from dementia; therefore, in Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s association. www.alz.org/donate.
