Mark Allan Petrick's Obituary
Lieutenant Colonel Mark Allan Petrick of Rowlett, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2009 after a courageous battle against the debilitating disease of Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. Born December 30, 1952, Mark spent his formative years in Iron Mountain, Michigan and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science from Northern Michigan University followed by earning a Master of Arts from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. Mark served his nation in the United States Marine Corps for 28 years and was recognized as “Officer of the Year” in 1985 for the USMC Reserve. A natural protector, Mark was the Director of Security for Texas Instruments from 1983-1990. Long a fixture in the Rowlett community, Mark owned and operated Pecan Creek Preschool with his wife, Linda Lou Petrick. Prior to Pecan Creek, Mark and Linda owned Children’s Treehouse in Garland, TX and Country Club Treehouse in Garland, TX. A gifted athlete and outdoorsman, Mark ran marathons, bowhunted across the country and enjoyed countless holes of golf with his dear friends. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Natalie Baldrica Petrick; his father, Robert Petrick, Sr.; and stepmother, Ruth Harding Petrick. A loving father and grandfather, Mark is survived by his wife, Linda of Rowlett, TX; his daughters, Tangela Althea Petrick of Rowlett, TX and Alanda Aune Petrick of Dallas, TX; and his granddaughter, Kate Carmen Campbell of Rowlett, TX. Mark is also survived by siblings, Bonnie (Ken) LeGrave of Faithorn, MI, James (Donna) Jafolla of Sheridan, WY, Michael (Margaret) Petrick of Iron Mountain, MI, Robert (Shelley) Petrick, Jr. of Kingsford, MI, Greg (Margie) Petrick of Faithorn, MI, and Jeff (Paula) Petrick of Vulcan, MI. Mark is also survived by his cherished Aunt Carmen Baldrica and dear cousin, Bob Baldrica, both of North Palm Beach, FL. Also his dear Aunt and Uncle Fritz and Arlene Rolfsmeirer of Correll, MN and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mark will be deeply missed and forever loved. A viewing will be held at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, June 9th with a funeral service at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 10th.
