Martha Ann Edwards' Obituary
Martha Ann Edwards, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on January 24, 1931, to Frank and Bethel Ford in Jackson, MS. Martha Ann will be sincerely missed by her loving family, her devoted friends and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her.
She attended Millsaps College and graduated from Mississippi Southern. She moved from Jackson, MS to Dallas in the late 1950s, where she worked for Southland Life Insurance and met her future husband. She married Jack Edwards Sr. on May 17, 1958 in Dallas, TX. Martha Ann spent the majority of her life as a homemaker, raising two kids, volunteering for school and extracurricular activities. Later in life, she worked again as a secretary for State Farm until she retired at age 80.
She was a member of University Park United Methodist Church for more than 50 years where she was active in United Methodist Women and always a willing volunteer for church or Sunday School activities or projects. She was a member of Park Cities Women's Chorus, various Book Clubs, and Beta Sigma Phi business sorority.
She had a group of friends, who for more than 30 years, met once a month for dinner. She was artistic, enjoying sketching and painting watercolors, always involved in any arts and crafts projects through church or school. She enjoyed gardening (working in the yard) and playing the piano. She also enjoyed patronizing the local arts groups, such as the symphony, the opera, and the various art museums. She is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Bethel Ford. She is survived by daughter Terry Palacios (husband Rudy), Dallas, TX, son Jack Edwards, Jr. (wife Jan), Garland, TX, grandchildren: Brandon Palacios, Jared Palacios (wife Megan), Connor Palacios and Brianna Edwards.
Visitation for Martha Ann Edwards will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at 1:30 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at 2:30 PM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
