I'll always remember Great Aunt Frances for her kindness and for a pair of purple and black checkered pants she sent me for Christmas one year. I think I was 14 years-old and those pants were the most fashionable piece of 1980s clothing I had ever had. I loved them and wore them out and Aunt Frances become a fashion icon for me. I miss her and will remember her always.

Aunt Frances was a blessing to me my whole life. She always took time to stay in touch with the "Upchurch kids" each year, usually at Christmas time. As all of us became older we were able to spend more quality time with her.
I always thought of her as my "Auntie Mame":
Zest for Life
Eccentric and free-spirited
Glamorous and sophisticated
Loyal and maternal
Open-minded
Affectionate and caring
She was a great lady.
I will always be grateful and thank God for my Aunt Frances.

Over the years, Aunt Frances always stayed in touch with her family in Alaska. Bill and I had four children, Tony, Amy, Nikki and Jamie. Aunt Frances, for many years, would send Christmas gifts to the kids when they were young. One year she sent each of them a pair of Levi Jeans. I reminded each of them to write a thank you to Aunt Frances for the jeans. One of the most memorable notes came from Nikki. She wrote:
"Dear Aunt France....thank you for the pants!"
Aunt Frances will always have a place in our hearts, she was a beloved aunt.
