My fondest memories were when Ms. Mary would come to visit Ms. Rebecca... I would intercept her from her driver & escort her to Ms. Rebecca's unit... We would talk while I escorted her.
Those days became the highlight of my week because I looked forward to my short walk with Ms. Mary.
From the 1st day I met Ms. Mary to the last time I escorted Ms. Mary, Everyday was her Birthday... I knew then, Ms. Mary was someone Very Special.
We should All embrace each day & treat it like it's your Birthday... Birthdays are special & everyone of us look forward to that day coming back around.
When you become a Senior in life, time becomes more limited & each day that we are able to awaken, is a gift from GOD...
Cherish your time you have on this earth & treat people with Kindness, Respect & Spread Love as GOD Loves Us...
May GOD Bless Each Of You & know that Ms. Mary will continue to be carried in our hearts... 💕

My fondest memories of Mary we're probably when we would play Skip-Bo with my mom (one of Mary's sisters). For Mary, she just thoroughly enjoyed playing the game and having a good time. Winning was not the goal. If she won, she was happy, but if she lost, it was okay too. When we would play partners, sometimes she would not make the most advantageous move, and sometimes I wouldn't, but we would just laugh it off. It was truly enjoyable to sit down and play a game with her. She knew how to have good sportsmanship and to laugh at her own mistakes.

I learned from Mary to let a lot go and not make a big fuss over anything. She avoided getting into arguments with anyone. When things would get a little sticky, she would just say "Oh, okay.", make a little clicking sound with her mouth, and then let it go. She had a wonderful way of deescalating a situation before it got heated up.

Mary had little cute names for you. One of her favorites was "Sugarfoot". She would say "Come on sugarfoot, let's go get something to eat". And, if you tried treating her to the meal, she would say she's going to the bathroom and then sneak over to the cash register and pay for it before the meal was even brought to the table. She was always making sure that everybody was fed whether it be going out to Norma's, picking up some food from McDonald's or Church's Chicken, or making you a hot dog wrapped in a tortilla at her house.

I had the privilege of meeting Mary through her daughter in law Erin. We met Mary several times for lunch. I will remember the funny conversations and her spunky personality. My deepest condolences and may her memory bring you peace and comfort today and the days to come.

I met Aunt Mary when I was 16 and started dating her godson, Ronnie. She immediately welcomed me into the family and made me feel like I was her goddaughter. I will always be grateful that she introduced me to Mexican food at the El Fenix buffet on Illinois Ave. in the Oak Cliff area. 😃😋 Aunt Mary (Nanny to my girls) had a zeal for life that is seldom matched. We never knew what outlandish things she might say or do. No, she wasn't crazy... just a lot of fun and good pranks! We cherish so many wonderful memories. Thank you Aunt Mary for your giving spirit and the love you poured into us throughout the years. We love you dearly. ❤️ Janet, Ron/Ronnie, Julie, Kathryn, Laura

Giving Mary a ride and taking her directions was a trip in itself: “Take a right at the old Texaco station, then a right a little way past Sonny Bryan‘s, bbq, if you see the rundown Sears warehouse you are close, it is just around the corner from 3rd Baptist. Almost there.” Mary rarely had addresses, sometime not even street names but always got us there. She knew Dallas like the back of her hand.
