I can still hear the beautiful voice of Mary when she sang at FUMC Dallas. She was a beautiful person and musician. Condolences to Robert and family.
While Mary Boggs had the voice of a world-class opera star who performed with nearly every opera company from Dallas to New York, today is the day I want to sing HER praises! Truth is, no one could light up a room with her smile, laugh or charisma like Mary Boggs. She was a special creation who loved and lived with passion, vigor and endless energy. She had a magnetic personality that people just flocked to and a true lady with a refinement you don't see very much these days. She was, indeed, a tour de force. Mary was my "second mom" and when I lived in New York, she and Robert were my "New York parents." In fact, Robert and Mary were in my folks' wedding in 1959. I cherish the many visits I had to Darien that always included fabulous meals by the warm fire, discussions of the latest Broadway shows and of course, opera, as well as walks in the brisk Fall air under the Harvest Moon. I even got to enjoy dance performances in the living room from Jennifer! My time with them over the years I was in New York was a huge treat. Mary's wisdom, insight and inspiration are in a special room in my heart, so to me, while she has left us, I can always go there and see her beautiful shining face. She meant the world to me. Our hearts are breaking, but I am sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that Heaven has gained a very special angel – one that will sing and dance and sparkle like no other for eternity. To Mary, I say Brava – and brava again! Your contagious laughter and love will be deeply missed.
