Mary E. Davis' Obituary
The beautiful Mary E. Davis, 90, passed away Sunday, December 20th in Houston where she lived near family. Visitation is set for Monday, December 28th from 10:00-11:00 am at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery. A graveside service will follow. Mary Elmina Hotchkiss was born March 16, 1925, in Staples, Minnesota to Charles Oliver and Alexina Palmer Hotchkiss. She graduated from Dilworth High School (Minn.) in 1943. Attended The University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Moved to Amarillo, Texas in 1952, to Houston in 1969, and to Dallas in 1973. She was past president of Dallas Federation of Women’s Clubs, and member of Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge/Dallas Area Chapter, and Pilot Club of Dallas, Inc. She participated in activities of Dallas Symphony Orchestra League; Dallas Opera Guild; The Dallas Southern Memorial Association; The Dallas Arboretum; The Women’s Board of the Dallas Opera; The Women’s Council of A.W.A.R.E.; and Amarillo Chapter of Eastern Star. She enjoyed her years working with Dallas Convention Bureau and her time with the golfing ladies at Lakewood Country Club. She attended events at The Park City Club, Knife & Fork Club, Friends of Lakewood Library, and Wednesday Women’s Choral Club. World traveler, Mary circled the globe twice and enjoyed many cruises to South America, Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. Avid and voracious reader and supporter of cookbook publishers. Survived by son, Jerome A. Stohle, and daughter-in-law, Judith C. Stohle; Granddaughter Andrea M. Linhart and her husband Brian S. Linhart; Great Grandchildren: Brandon, Kyle, & Emily Linhart. Nephew: Thomas Wolf; Nieces: Linda & Mary Jo Wolf, Nancy Johnson, Sandy Obermiller. Predeceased by parents, Oliver & Alexina Hotchkiss, sister Erdine Leone Wolf, husbands Roger Stohle, Eugene Billigmeier, & L. Phil Davis.
