Mary Virginia Gordon's Obituary
Virginia Gordon, of Richardson, TX passed away November 22, 2009. Services will be held 10am on Friday November 27, 2009 at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Richardson, TX. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Virginia (Gingie) was born June 28, 1943 in Enid, OK, She was the daughter of Charles and Charlotte Allerton and grew up in Ft. Worth, TX. She married Ronnie Gordon in 1965 and had three sons. Gingie graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Ft. Worth, and she received her BA in Psychology from the University of Texas. She worked briefly for the state of Texas, left to raise a family and later volunteered as a teaching assistant. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing board games, doing needlework, and working crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed playing with, teaching and encouraging her children and grandchildren. In addition, she liked to follow politics, keep up with local events and was always ready to express an opinion. She was preceded in death by her mother, Charlotte Allerton. Virginia is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ronnie Gordon; father, Charles Allerton; sister, Kathy Uschmann; children, Christopher Gordon, Eric Gordon and Brian Gordon; grandchildren, Percy Mead Gordon, Hannah Elizabeth Gordon and two grandchildren on the way; as well as many other family members and friends. Gingie kept a positive attitude throughout life. Those around her remember her for her energetic and adventurous younger days as well as her intelligence, patience, encouragement and kindness throughout life. Virginia was a member of DAR (Daughters of American Revolution) and a dialysis patient for 20 years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the National Kidney Foundation of North Texas in Virginia’s name.
