Doris,Joey, Mary Ann, CJ, Rob, John, Sue, Mike, Stephen – We are very happy Aunt Mary is in a better place with no suffering but we will all miss her and have so many wonderful memories. She was a real trooper and valiant in all she went through. She was such a blessing in our lives and we all loved her deeply. She made a difference in us all but she is smiling down on us and looking forward to seeing us all together again one day in heaven. Thanks, Aunt Mary, for always being there for me, our good times in N.C. and here in Texas, for watching our girls a couple times when we went on trips and once when I had to be in the hospital. So sorry to hear about Mary's leaving her earthly home. When we visited her last month, she said she was so mad she was in the hospital and couldn't visit with us as all of us went out to eat dinner. We enjoyed the short time we had with her, remembering all the times she came home with her clan in the summer….especially while they were in the Air Force. I remember Ross getting on roller skates (at Ketner's) near Granny's house, even though he had never been on them. He had, however, become quite proficient with ice skates in New England. Mary loved her family dearly, and was always interested in us sharing things about our family with her. Kids, Sara and family: I know you will miss her, but she doesn't have to suffer any more. I can just hear her brothers and sisters sitting on the porch in heaven saying, "Mary, what took you so long?" We will be thinking of you. We love you all!
I particularly remember the whole family sitting on the porch at Lake Junaluska on summer nights after the heat of the day and listening to Aunt Mary and her siblings tell stories on one another. One I remember well was the one that was often told on my father, Mary's brother David. The story had a couple variations on how it started, but it always ended the same way….with Mother Louise chasing dad around the big tree in the front yard with a big switch in her hand….and Aunt Mary's peals of laughter at that memory. It must have been a particular favorite of hers. What I remember so well was the warmth of family those shared memories created for us kids. We learned that the strength of family is in shared experiences as much as in blood. All of us who were a part of the shared experiences that is Aunt Mary will miss her. Larry and I, Freddy and Tonya and their families were sorry to hear of Aunt Mary's passing. Having Seen her in the hospital in May and sharing memories with her and the family gathered was memorable for us. I always enjoyed the family visits to N. C. and hearing all about their travels. RIP Mary for you deserve no more pain. We will miss you and we send our condolences to all family members. Remember the good times in her life.

my daddy ray gentry(who passed last July)was a friend of John and Mary. John was my daddys bass fishing buddy.We went to a lake house( I can't remember were it was)and I remember meeting mary. She was so nice to us. my youngest sister could not say mr makuta and had a little nickname for him.It was so cute.I'm thinking of your family and just know that there all in heaven going fishing!
