Mary L. Makuta's Obituary
Mary Makuta passed peacefully out of this life on June 25, 2009, and moved on to join her husband John and son Ross. Mary was born in Waynesville, NC on January 25, 1928, and always loved her beautiful Smokey Mountains. Mary was the youngest of 9 children and talked weekly with her surviving sister in Tennessee, Anna Howell. Mary was devoted to her children and learned to drive only when that became the only way to get the four kids to all their different activities. She loved being a part of the Air Force “family” and held many special memories of the time Johnny spent in the Air Force – especially watching the AF Thunderbirds. Mary retired from the Richardson ISD, where she worked in the cafeteria and met many wonderful people who have remained dear friends to this day. Mary was preceded in death by her husband John Makuta, Jr. and son, Ross Makuta, and survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Jones and spouse, Clyde Jones of Lubbock; daughter, Doris Unsworth who lived with Mary in Garland; son, John Makuta, III and spouse sue Makuta, of Plano; grandchildren, Robin Abbey, Jr., Joseph Unsworth, Michael John Makuta and Stephen Makuta; and extended family and friends around the country. Services: June 29, 10:00 AM at Restland, Wildwood Chapel; Visitation Sunday, June 28 at Restland, 3:00-5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Diabetes Association, Honor & Memorial Program, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA, 22312.
