Mary Frances Anderson McCorkle's Obituary
Mary Frances Anderson McCorkle passed away in Dallas, TX on October 13, 2022, at the age of 96. She was born in Deport, Texas December 15, 1925, to the late Murray and Edith McClure Anderson. When she was 16 her father passed away and she moved to Dallas. One Sunday, while on the way to church with her sister, she met and fell for a young WWII pilot, Monroe McCorkle. After the war ended, they married and had three children. Mary studied nights and weekends to finish her degree in math in 1966 from the University of Texas at Arlington. Mary then pursued her career in teaching and was a beloved math teacher at Sunset High School. She was a fabulous cook and passed on her love of family, literature and cooking to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. After retirement, she, Monroe, and their dog traveled the National Parks in their RV, often bringing their children and grandchildren along. In her twilight years, Mary continued to be very engaged with her family, overseeing many family gatherings and trips, and even interacting with them via email and Facebook until her final months. Mary is survived by her children, Denise McCallon and Marianne Mason, her grandchildren Darren McCallon, Asher Mason and Blaire Mason, Melissa and Michael Tunks, and Ginnie and Geoffrey McCorkle, and her great grand-children Caleb, Danny, Josie and Micah Tunks, Cameron and Logan McCorkle, and Wyatt and Marshall McCallon.
