Mom. This is a woman who made me clothes to match my shoes . It’s customary to purchase shoes to go with your clothes. But this daughter had a thing for shoes. Mom and I would hit Hancocks fabric store, with my shoes in hand, searching for fabric and patterns. Oh, and my idea for my HS senior prom dress. I wanted a dress like the one Elizabeth Taylor wore in the movie Elephant Walk. Off to Hancocks we went looking for a pattern. Why on earth did we pick yellow fabric? I don’t wear yellow to this day. We gathered the courage to tell each other the dress was pretty, for someone else. Back to the drawing board and the second dress was it! Once we made an afghan together though we were 2000 miles apart. I saw it in Redbook and thought what a fun project-it took a year! I sure keep warm on winter nights with that afghan. No matter my crazy ideas – sewing, house remodel (now those are stories), Mom made it happen. Thanks, Mom. Love you.
