Max is my father's first cousin through the Niemeyer line. I first met Max at my own father's funeral in 2007. Max drove all the way to East Dallas to pay his respects, quite a long drive. That day he shared with me a memory of their younger years together, one I had never heard before. I cherish that moment and the story he shared with me. Max was always fun to be around and I enjoyed the times I was able to have lunch with him and my father (Bill Wheeler) at the Dallas Diner. He loved his family and our lunch topics generally came back to his wife and grown children. I'm so sorry he has gone on now; he left a legacy of friendship I know will be missed, especially by those who were lucky enough to know him as long as my father did.
