Melba Christine Warrach's Obituary
Melba Warrach, died August 8, 2017 at Christian Care Senior Living Community-Allen. She was born December 30, 1919, in Star City, Arkansas, to the late John B. and Mamie E. Haddox, and grew up in Abilene, Texas. She lived in San Antonio for 18 years before moving to Christian Care Senior Living Community, where she lived for over 20 years. Melba was preceded in death by her husband Rolan Warrach, on May 4, 1993; brothers, Searcy Haddox, Glen Haddox, Art Haddox, and Cecil Haddox; sisters, Veda Williams and Jettye Tidwell. Melba is survived by her eleven nieces and nephew, Arthur Lee Haddox, Jr, Barbara Brockhoeft, Harold Tidwell, Norma Wallis, John Tidwell, Diane Hopkins, Glenda Bundick, Sandra McClain, Brenda Cole, Daniel Haddox and Pam Stokes. Many Great, Great-great, and Great-great-great nieces and nephews. Melba graduated from Eula High School, Eula, Texas in 1938. She was an auditor for Walgreen’s and traveled throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. She retired in 1978, after 32 years of service. She married Rolan Warrach and they moved to San Antonio in 1978. During her retirement years, Melba and Rolan were active sports fans and they loved to fish. They would drive their boat to the gulf and fish all day. Melba loved to watch the Spurs, Rangers, Mavericks and the Cowboys. She also enjoyed collecting Rangers and Spurs bobble heads. Three years after Rolan passed away, Melba moved to Mesquite, Texas. She moved into Hartin Apartments on the Mesquite campus of Christian Care Senior Living Community in the summer of 1996. While she was at Hartin Apartments, she met great friends. She was a regular volunteer at the Health Care Center, she made birthday cakes for residents of The Courtyard Memory Care Assisted Living, and she made the coffee for game days at Swindoll Activity Center on campus, where she was an avid 42 domino player. She enjoyed attending church at Christian Care Church of Christ, and she was active in the Thirty Niners group at Highland Oaks Church of Christ. Melba never walked into an event empty handed, she was known for her homemade pies! In 2014, Melba needed extra care and moved into The Courtyard, where she received great, loving care by the staff. They would give her jobs to perform to keep her busy. She would set the dinner table, clear the dishes after meals, straighten the placemats and she was always picking up small pieces of lint. Clearly, her years of being an auditor never left her. In April of 2017, Melba moved to the new Christian Care campus in Allen. She lived in Bluebonnet Memory Care, where she received great, loving care by the staff and the Christian Care Hospice care givers. The family wishes to thank the staff of Christian Care, Mesquite and Allen, as well as the Christian Care Hospice Team. Memorial donations can be made to Christian Care Hospice. 900 Wiggins Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75150 Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Restland Memorial Park, Garden of Ascension.
