Melvin Brown's Obituary
Born November 22, 1921, Melvin was called by our Lord to join Him in his Heavenly Kingdom. Born in Mt. Vernon, Texas to Will and Ethel Brown. He married Ada Merle Talley February 2, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, his children, Larry and Marsha Brown, Brenda and Scott Giboney, Tim and Mary Brown; his dearly loved grandchildren, Brian Giboney, Meredith Moore, Emily McCoy, Jacob Brown, Kent Baumann; brother, Charles Brown; sister, Mary and Robbie Jones. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a veteran of WWII, was in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day 1944, and Battle of the Bulge 1944. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a deacon at Lake Highlands Baptist Church for 55 years. A special “Thank You” to Seasons Hospice at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Lake Highlands Baptist Church, 642 Brookhurst Dr. in Dallas with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be at Colliers Chapel Cemetery, 10 miles on Hwy 37 North from Mt. Vernon. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DAV or the charity of your choice.
