Melvin Roy Noack's Obituary
Melvin Roy Noack, 90 years old, died of natural causes, Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at C. C. Young Assisted Living in Dallas, TX. He is survived by his two children, Vicki Squires and Eric Noack; Vicki’s husband James Squires; Eric’s wife Susan Noack; grandchildren Jamie Squires and his wife Mackenzie, Vanessa Squires, Victoria Noack, Alexandra Noack, Michael Noack, and great grandchildren Sloane and Beck Squires. Mr. Noack was born on September 2, 1925 in Port Arthur, TX, the son of Gerhardt Paul Noack and Martha Beisert Noack. He was the youngest of five brothers and two sisters and attended Port Arthur’s Thomas Jefferson High School. In 1943, he qualified for military officer’s training and college enrollment at Rice University in Houston, TX. During World War II, he served as a Lieutenant in the Pacific Theatre until the end of the war in 1945. He was reacquainted with Rebecca (“Becky”) Jean Spicer, a high school classmate and they were married on September 2, 1948 in Port Arthur. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1948 and shortly after took a job with Magnolia Petroleum Company, a subsidiary of Mobil Oil Corporation. The Korean War temporarily interrupted his employment and he served as a Chief Engineer on two destroyer ships, finishing his tour of duty in early 1953. He continued his career with Mobil and transitioned through positions as Field Engineer, Project Manager, Manager of Engineering, Pipeline Division Manager, and Part Interest Manager until his retirement on February 1,1984. His career took him and his family to take up residence in the states of Texas, California, New Jersey, and Kansas, finally settling back permanently in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas. He and Becky moved to their final home in Trophy Club, Texas in 1987, a home that he designed and contracted to build. Mr. Noack was also an avid golfer and was a member of the Trophy Club Country Club. He also enjoyed travelling with his family and arranged many opportunities to see U. S. historical sites and landmarks as well as enjoying international travel with Becky. A private burial will be held on December 30, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to North Park Presbyterian Church, The University of Texas at Austin, or the charity of your choice. Memorial Service is being held at NorthPark Presbyterian Church on North Central between Walnut Hill and Park Lane in Dallas on FRIDAY, JANUARY 18TH at 11:00
