I have known my wonderful friend Merril for 14 years. We met at church and she lived a few blocks from our home. She invited me to her home to pray on Saturday mornings. This was a tremendous blessing as my family was new in town. Our prayer time was guided by the Holy Spirit and we prayed for our children, other relatives, church, country, neighbors and whatever God brought to our minds. We grew closer together and we grew nearer to God.
We also had fun sitting on her back porch or having breakfast or lunch out together. We shared ideas, thoughts, laughter and concerts. I enjoyed the kale and veggies from her garden. Merril had many delicious meals she prepared for friends, offering her home and companionship. Merril’s amazing hospitality, strength, wisdom and love were evident. She was an example of what Jesus compels us to do ourselves.
I know for sure that she is in heaven now, and I will see her again. I also know she and Jesus would want you to know that Jesus, creator of our beautiful world and our heavens, loves you more than you can imagine. He desires to have a relationship with you. A forever relationship with Him that is always available to us. He offers forgiveness, eternity in heaven, His joy, blessings, comfort and a book on how to live our lives: His Bible. When we follow Him it is the very best path we can walk. He created you in your mother’s womb, and He has a plan specifically for your life. Reach out to Him today and accept His sacrifice for you. He gives love, comfort and peace. He will meet you wherever you are. And you can be guaranteed eternity with Him and with others who are with Him in heaven, like Merril.

You stood as a living bridge between generations — carrying family stories, traditions, strength, and grace through nearly a century of change. Your presence brought comfort, your words carried meaning, and your life reminded all of us that true wealth is found in kindness, faith, resilience, and family.
