Merva Joyce Rock's Obituary
My wife, our mom, our NaNa, We love you and miss you. Was born to Frieda Marie Snider and Roy James Fite on June 22, 1945 in Dallas, Texas. Surrounded by family in prayer and love, Joyce departed this world on April 7, 2008 to join our Heavenly Father. On October 31, 2007 Joyce was diagnosed with colon/rectal cancer. She faced each day with a smile and a hope for a cure, strength to fight, and faith in Christ, that His will would be done. Joyce’s death was caused by complications during her recovery from the surgery preformed to remove her cancer. Joyce leaves behind a legacy of laughter, unconditional love, and generosity. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Joyce is survived in life by her loving and faithful husband of 31 years Robert G. Rock of Dallas, Texas, daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Joseph Silva of Grand Prairie, Texas, daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Kirk Houser of Winnsboro, Texas, son and fianc’ Richard J. Rock and Sylvia Landin of Grand Prairie, Texas. A doting grandmother, Joyce is survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, Stephen Silva, his wife Sue Ann, sons Joseph and Christopher, Valerie Silva her fianc’ Chris Vail and their son Ian; Aaron and Anthony Silva, Cesar Torres, Graham and Elaine Houser, Isiah Rock, Joseph and Daniel Al-Quaisam and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce was a colorful person, she was out spoken and opinionated. Her heart was always in the right place. Even when she was in pain, her thoughts were of her family which included her pets as well. Just hours after surgery she ordered her husband home to feed the cats and her boston terrier ‘ that was our Joyce. She was feisty and challenged those that dared her. She had a quick wit and an intriguing sense of humor. Joyce will be remembered in our hearts until we join her in Heaven.
