Michael Leon Brown Jr's Obituary
Michael Leon Brown, Jr. was born on May 28, 1965, to Michael Leon Brown, Sr. and
Verna Ruth Brown in Dallas, Texas. He attended Elisha M. Pease Elementary School
and T. W. Browne Middle School before beginning his journey into the workforce at an early age. While still a student at Justin F. Kimball High School, Michael worked part-time evenings at The Gas Pump restaurant until closing and later went on to work for Foremost Dairy. He proudly graduated from Kimball High School in 1984.
Michael, along with his two younger brothers, Marvin and Marlon, was an avid athlete throughout high school. The three brothers participated in track, football, and basketball, forming a close bond through sports, discipline, and shared determination. Michael and Marvin were also members of the ROTC program. During their junior and senior years, all three brothers attended school for half days while working real-world jobs through the school’s work program. Michael’s leadership during this time helped guide his brothers as they discovered their passions and callings in life.
At a pivotal moment in Michael’s life, a meaningful friendship was formed with Timothy Fleming, Sr. Michael and his brothers spent many hours playing basketball with Timothy Fleming, Jr., building a relationship that would later grow into mentorship. Pastor Timothy Fleming, Sr. welcomed Michael into his life, allowing him to work alongside him in construction while also mentoring him spiritually and personally. Through this relationship, Michael’s passion for helping others, serving his community, and living a life of purpose was strengthened.
Michael and his wife Agere began their journey in April 2013 at Christ for the Nations
Institute, where she enrolled as a student from Ethiopia and he worked as a staff
member. They tied the knot on December 21, 2013. Michael dedicated himself
wholeheartedly alongside his wife, embodying the qualities of a Christlike husband and leader—loving, hardworking, and responsible! They became members of City on the Hill International Church in 2013, where Michael diligently served as both a deacon and an elder for 7 years!
Michael’s dedication to service was evident throughout his church family, where his
presence and care impacted people of all ages. Since Michael and his wife Agere joined Christ Tabernacle Church in 2021, Michael took every opportunity to serve his church community in all events. He was well-loved among the youth and adults.
Michael was especially devoted to his mother, faithfully checking on her and
accompanying her to doctor’s appointments. Michael was always ready to lend a hand to family members without hesitation and was known for offering thoughtful advice whenever it was needed.
On Sunday, January 11, 2026, the hearts of Michael’s wife, Agere, and his family grew
heavy as Michael Leon Brown, Jr. peacefully transitioned. God blessed us with a son,
brother, father, nephew, grandfather, cousin, and servant for 60 wonderful years.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Michael Leon Brown, Sr. of Sacul, Texas; his grandparents Lorenzo and Mable Brown of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and his
grandparents Robert and Ether Pinkard of Dallas, Texas.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 12 years, Agere Brown; his mother, Verna Ruth Brown; his aunt, Wanda; his brothers, Marvin and Marlon Brown; his sister, Seneca (Rod) Hanson; his daughter, Kei’arra Brown; and his son, Michael Leon Brown III. He is also survived by his father’s living sisters, Frances Threadgill of Dallas and Lois Roberson of Cedar Hill, along with his grandchildren, many cousins, and a wide circle of friends and associates.
Though Michael is no longer physically with us, the lessons he leaves behind remain clear: Do things decently and in order and always put others
before yourself.
