Ken Mccorkle
Mike,
You were never just our brother in law,you were a brother in every sense that mattered.
From the start you welcomed our family without hesitation folding us into your world like we always belonged, there was no awkward transition, just warmth, humor and natural ease that made you impossible not to love.
You had a way of making everything feel lighter not because you ignored life's difficulties but because you met them head on with your intellect and wit that reminded us not to take ourselves to seriously. You could find the funny side of almost anything and your laughter had the rare quality of making people feel better just by hearing it.
Even now I find myself smiling at things I know would have you in stitches or sparked one of your mischievous grins that always hinted to an inside joke.but beneath the banter was depth, you were always reliable, thoughtful and quietly observant. You were the kind of person who showed up not just when it was easy but when it mattered most, whether it be cutting trees, building a fence or giving sound advice that I didn't want to admit i needed.you made us all feel Capable and supported like family always should. You had a brilliant mind sharp wit and a kind heart. I didn't realize how much we leaned on you until your absence. Your presence gave us all a kind of peace we never had to ask for.
Family meant everything to you and you gave yours your whole heart.
You shared your passions in life with us all, from guide fishing at Texoma, to goose and duck hunting down south to playing bacci ball and eating watermelon at the farm in east Texas and lastly your sometimes R rated color commentary during Dallas Stars hockey games( our boys loved it)
We will miss the chats, the laughs, the sound of your voice and the steadiness of presence, but more than anything im grateful, grateful for the time we had,for the bond we built and for the man you were.
You may have not been my brother by blood but in every way that mattered you were and always be my family
Rest in peace my brother
,
