Michael Craig Smith's Obituary
Born May 3, 1946 in Dallas, Texas, Michael Craig Smith passed away May 26, 2016 at age 70 at his home. He was a 1964 graduate of Bryan Adams High School, participating in ROTC and band. He attended Texas Tech where he studied architecture, rode rodeo bulls, and was a proud member of the Texas Tech band. He finished his schooling at North Texas State, then worked over the years in architectural and graphic design, and building inspections. Mike loved anything to do with Texas, hunting, guns, living in his Oak Cliff neighborhood, family history, and nearly any kind of music, especially Blue Grass and jazz. He was a member of the Texas State Guard and an avid gun collector. Mike had learned to play banjo and mandolin. He enjoyed meeting weekly with friends to sing and play blue grass and gospel music. Mike was a beloved son and brother. He was a good friend who kept in touch with his many friends and could tell stories for hours on end over coffee. He will be greatly missed. Mike was preceded in death by his father R.D. Smith, Jr., mother Bonnie Jo Brumit Gunn, and step-father Hansel Gunn. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Pal Scully of Austin, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2PM Thursday, June 2nd at Restland.
