My heart goes out to his strong wife Connie and all of his children and family. Mike has been my neighbor for the past eight years and I always loved talking to him. He was always positive and looked for the good things in life. His energy was contagious and he could put even the grumpiest person in a better mood. I miss him already every time I look out my window and see his SUV in the driveway knowing I'll never see him again out mowing his yard and taking care of his and his wife's beautiful home. Heaven just gained an angel. Rest in peace Mike. friend and neighbor, Lance Pilgrim
I just called to set up an appointment with Mike, who was my barber since 1990, and found out about his passing. I'm shocked and saddened. He was such a terrific guy, always pleasant, always in a good mood, with a great sense of humor. He dispensed not only haircuts but music, tamales, sports commentary, and jokes. When my daughter's fiancee was in town for their wedding, he needed a haircut, so I took him to Mike. Mike gave him the full treatment–massage, products, shave with an old-fashioned straight razor, the works. He turned a routine thing into a memorable event, and helped me bond with my soon to be son-in-law. I never knew his family, but he frequently talked about them, and was clearly a good father, husband, and grandfather. To all of his family and friends, please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. Mike touched a lot of lives.
I will dearly miss my friend Mike Ynostrosa. My law office has been located at 10300 N. Central Expressway for several years, the building from which Mike plied his craft for so many years. Mike and I interacted, with limited exception, practically every work day of the week. His always easy going and upbeat attitude was infectious. No matter what my day looked like going into it, that day always started out better with a brief stop to poke my head in the barbershop and share a few moments with Mike before I got on the elevator to head upstairs to the grind. I will miss the sound of Mike's guitar and voice resonating throughout the building. He was a man we were all privileged to know – a man I was proud to call a friend. Things won't be the same around the shop without you Mike – Rest In Eternal Peace.
Mike was my barber and my friend for years. We shared a love of music, especially the old gospels and early rock and roll tunes. Following several difficult months in the hospital five years ago, I was delighted to finally be able to resume my regular visits with Mike. When I told him what I had been through, he raised his arms and praised God for my recovery, grabbed his old beaten up Gibson, and sang two gospel hymns. To say that I was overcome would be an understatement. Like all of his customers and friends, I extend my deep sympathy to his family. We will never see his like again, but I am comforted knowing that he has joined a heavenly chorus.
Mike and I celebrated our 47th year earlier in August. He first cut my hair in August 1968 when he was at Mustang Barbershop. I got to watch his family grow up and start their own families. Music was always a part of our regular visits. Ironically the last song he taught me was "Look for Me…for I will be there too." I'll be looking for you Mike when my turns comes. My bet is it will be the striped pole closest to the thrown! God Bless Mike and God Bless Connie and the kids and grandkids. Doug Ducate
My Dear Uncle Mike, always smiling with a quick joke and a song! Precious memories how they linger… I will forever remember him introducing me to the Beatles! My prayers go out to my Aunt Connie and the boys, may the Lord give you peace and comfort. Love always, your niece, Sylvia Holloway
Mike has been my friend and barber for over 31 years. As my hair turned gray, I would joking accuse Mike of causing it. The legal settlement was to color my hair with its ?natural color? in return I would pay. Mike was a great musician but of far greater importance, he was an outstanding man of the Christian faith. At no time in my estimated 279 visits did we not talk about the Lord. Will see you soon, my friend.
may God Bless you and your Family during this time.
