Mildred Custer, former long-time resident of Mesquite, passed away peacefully September 27, 2021 in Austin. She was born August 19, 1925 in Howe, TX. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, John H Custer; sister, Read Obituary
Mildred (Mid) was my loving, kind,wonderful big sister. Mid was the most caring person who loved her family and friends. John and Mid were so much in love and I respected and loved them both. I always loved coming to visit them when I was just a kid. She was my second “mom” and always made me feel special. I will miss her so much. God bless you sis. Love, Bob
Mrs. Custer lived next to my grandparents throughout my childhood. She was a very kind soul who always smiled and waved from her porch while I rode my bike in her driveway. I will always remember her gentle nature and beautiful handwriting. She also always made a point to bring over a jar of her candied pickles; they were delicious! All who knew her were blessed to have done so.

Mrs. Custer was a first class lady. Always had a smile and friendly greeting when Sandra and I would visit mom and dad. She will be missed. Heaven is a richer place.
Mildred always treated me like a member of her family! She had a great smile and a quick wit. She will be missed.

Mrs. Custer is part of my first memories as a child and I will never forget working for her as a kid in the 1970's and 80's. From 2012 until she moved in 2018 I would watch her house and had a set of keys to her house so I could check in on her if need be when she was gone to visit family. I will say I will miss Mrs. Custer and she was a very classy lady full of love and a definite light in this world! Jeff, Pam and Kathy I am so sorry for your loss. We will meet again! I know she is with Mr. Custer and I for one am a better person for having her as a wonderful neighbor for so many years. God bless!
