Mildred Sue Farmer's Obituary
Mildred Sue Farmer, born March 30, 1931, in Amarillo, Texas, to Ewell and Blanche McMahan, died peacefully in her sleep and went home to be with her Lord on March 17, 2011. Sue lived in Hillsboro, Texas, with her parents and sister, Lavonna, until she ventured to Fort Worth to attend Texas Christian University. She met the love of her life, Chuck Farmer, while she was working at Pioneer Airlines, and in 1953 they married in The Church of Christ in Fort Worth. They chose to make their home in Dallas, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Sue delighted in rearing their three girls, supporting Chuck, and creating a beautiful home for their family. She loved cooking and spent much of her time in the kitchen. She was so well-known for her delicious meals and deserts, children from the neighborhood were fond of stopping by to see if she might have a cookie or two that needed to be taken care of. She was also adored by her grand-daughters, and she loved playing with them and teaching them anything they cared to learn from her. Sue enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours lovingly tending to her yard and gardens. Her work was the envy of many and she was thrilled and proud when she was awarded Yard of the Month in the Lake Highlands neighborhood. Since 2004, Sue has faced increasing health issues to the point of requiring professional caregiving services in addition to the loving care given by her family. The beautiful women who shared in taking care of her grew to love Sue as a treasured friend, enjoying her spunk, strong will, and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Sue is survived by her husband, Chuck Farmer, three daughters Eileen Wahlstrom (Mickey Wahlstrom), Lisa Crowe, and Alice Bowling (Bret Bowling), grand-daughter Michelle Wahlstrom, sister Lavonna Dobbs, sister-in-law Dale Langford, and six nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Blanche and Ewell McMahan, grand-daughter Amy Wahlstrom, and brother-in-law Bobby Langford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26th, 3:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Memorial Chapel, followed by private interment. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation at Restland on Friday night, March 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to The American Heart Association or The American Lung Association.
