Minka S. Credille's Obituary
Minka Suzanne Urban Credille passed peacefully on May 13, 2026. Born on February 24, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas to Susie Annie Hackney Scarbrough, she was adopted as an infant by Harry and Mary Frances Crozier Urban. Minka was the third of five children to both of her mothers.
Minka grew up in Dallas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1962. Minka lived most of her life in the Dallas area, moving to Colleyville in 2015 to be closer to family.
Minka worked as an accounting clerk for many years, retiring at the age of 60 after 15+ years of service with the Dallas County Auditor’s office. Once retired she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, extensive travelling, and hobbies of genealogy and gardening. More recently she had enjoyed social activities with dear friends, crocheting, and watching old westerns on TV.
Two of her greatest joys in life were serving as proud “Gran” and “Emaw” to her precious grandchildren and finding her birth family in her early 60s, establishing a loving and close relationship with her biological siblings and their families.
Through her many health challenges in recent years, she continued to love fiercely, laugh frequently, and live each day to its fullest. A loving sister, mother, and grandmother, she will always be known by many as simply “Gran.”
Preceded in death by her mothers, Susie Annie and Mary Frances, sisters Nancy Taylor, Judy Clifford, Doris Scarbrough, and brothers Charles Scarbrough, Tommy Heath, and Terry Bartoli.
She is survived by her sister Ruth Ann Taylor of Waddell, Arizona and brother Larry (Jonelle) Bartoli of Weatherford Texas. Children, Diane Godwin, John “Wayne” (Leslie) Feray of Colleyville, Texas and David Allen Credille (Cheryl) of Little Elm, Texas, grandchildren Travis, Erika, Caitlin, Libby, Jack, and Avery and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Humane Society of North Texas.
