To Suzie, Cathy and Tom, I've never known a more kind and loving father, husband and friend to many people than Bill. God bless you as you face giving him up. Although Bill and I both worked for Exxon, we spent our careers in different locations. It was in our retirement years that I really got to know him, and he was something special. He was the "driving force" behind our little group that met regularly for breakfast at the Southern Recipes Cafe in Dallas. He had to drop out a few years ago, explaining that his driving skills were not getting any better and he was getting more "honks" from other drivers. I offered to parachute him in for the breakfasts, but he declined my offer in his usual polite manner. He was a good man, and will certainly be missed. Ron Wolf Plano, TX
I am so sorry for your loss. Bill was a big man. Big smile, heart, laugh and sense of humor. I am a member of Bill's gym and he was such an asset and inspiration to all of us. It was fun to attend the surprise birthday party at his house. You all were very clever planning it. Every time the doorbell rang he smiled and laughed. I am very sad to hear the news that Bill has passed away. Please accept my very sincere sympathy. I'm one of the "gym rats" from the former White Rock Athletic Club where Bill faithfully exercised…and made lots of friends. I loved going to our class early so I could chat with Bill. We often talked about the TX Rangers, knowing that we had both either listed or watched the game the night before! There was always a circle of people around him and I would have to wait my turn! There was a particular move that we did in class called "around the world" and I always thought of Bill when we did that. I don't even remember why – but even after he had to stop coming to exercise, I still thought of him when we did around the world! His birthday was 1 day before my own father's birthday, only Bill was a year younger. It was neat knowing their birthdays were so close. I am thinking of your family as you grieve your loss. I was just about to write Biill a note when something urged me to look up obituaries. I'm so sorry for your loss. He was a friend of Jay McLure an Exxon man who volunteered with Dare to Dream Children's Foundation here in Dallas – ministering to abused, neglected and foster children. Through Jay, I had some wonderful telephone visits with Bill.
