I will remember Nancy for the wonderful, unique friendship we had. We worked together at UT Southwestern for 15 years and our friendship grew over the years. She always had a beautiful smile, was quick-witted and funny, and had a zest for life that was hard to match. Nancy and Carol Jean were my mentors in playing scrabble (and almost always beat me); she loved traveling and dancing. Whatever she did she did it well. Nancy was fortunate to find love again with Jack, and he has been her constant companion both before and after her illness. Jack, I will forever be thankful for how hard you fought to get Nancy the care she needed and for being there for her. DK, you know how much your Mom loved you. You gave her so much joy and laughter, and I feel lucky to have been part of that. And then you gave her Vicki, Alex and Rose. I'll never forget how excited Nancy was when she found out Alex was on the way. Though she always loved St. Thomas, I'm pretty sure the grandchildren tipped the boat, and made the decision to move down there even easier. I wish with all my heart that could have happened. I always felt better know Nancy was in this world even though we were living far apart, and I'll miss knowing that. Love to you all, Joie Shelton
