I'm sorry for not knowing about Nilima's passing until now. Ron & Rup, as you know, she was Mom/Colleen's next-door neighbor at Colonial Oaks (and often a table-mate) until COVID hit. I got to know her during that time, and was really impressed by her friendliness, kindness, and willingness to share her opinions. My memories are only a fraction of 1% of what you "kids" have, and I know you'll have them always to cherish!

We had known Nilimaji & Dr. Ashish Nag since the year 2000 after our arrival in Detroit. They were a great and devoted couple, extremely devoted to Thakur Ramakrishna dev, Holy Mother Sharada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. I have wonderful memories of traveling together with them to Ganges, Michigan in June, 2001 to join the millenium celebration and also to Vivekananda Vedanta Society, Chicago, which was located in the Hyde Park Blvd. in early 2000's to join the Thakur's Tithi puja celebration. Needless to say, we attended Holy Mother's Tithi puja at their home several times.
Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to their children and grand children. Sincerely wish, we had known them a little more. May the almighty Lord grant eternal peace to the devoted couple.

Nilima was such a beautiful member of our Colonial Oaks family! The smiles she put on our faces... the priceless things she taught us.... her lovely energy.... these are just few of the memories we will forever cherish!
My heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Rana, Rup and their families. May God give them all the strength and courage to bear this loss. Ashishda and Nilimadi would always have a special place in our hearts. Nilimadi now has joined Ashishda in heaven.
I first met Ashishda when he came to Oakland University for the job interview. Then of course I met Nilimadi the very first day they arrived in Rochester Hills. Some of the highlights of our association I would like to fondly recall. We had a group of three/four ladies who would gather together with our respective children in the Ludlow Park or the park across from the Yates Cider Mills. We would have a picnic lunch and the kids would play together. Through the years we were part of their lives and the celebrations of marriages, baby showers, Anna Prashan etc.
She was a very talented lady in so many ways. Only a handful of people knew that she was a college professor in West Bengal. Nilimadi would celebrate Ma Saradadevi's birthday with such devotion and dedication. So many people were invited to that yearly event at her home. She had a green thumb and was so very proud of her garden here in Michigan as well as in Texas. I had the singular privilege of visiting them in Richardson where she proudly showed off her garden. Before she left Michigan, she bestowed her beloved plants on many of her friends including me. I will cherish those plants and all of them are thriving. Those will remain as living memory of Nilimadi and her loving personality. May her soul achieve Moksha. Respectfully, Sukla
