Noah Richard (Dick) Davis' Obituary
Dick was born on October 30, 1926, to Gussie Merle Dielman and Noah Schley Davis in Dallas. He attended Highland Park Schools where he played football and was a member of the Air Force ROTC. He attended Southern Methodist University where he played football for the Mustangs , which included the 1948 SWC championship season. Dick was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduation he trained in New York City with Merrill Lynch where he became a member of the Charles E. Merrill Circle for the firms most outstanding brokers. Outside of a sabbatical where he served as Athletic Director for Southern Methodist University, he spent 43 years with Merrill Lynch and retired in 1996. Dick was a charter member of the Bent Tree Country Club, a place where he was loved and able to celebrate many unique events over his 53 year membership. Dick was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church. Dick ‘s proudest accomplishment and legacy was his family. He was the father of five children, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Nothing brought a smile to his face more than time with them. Dick was a big personality that always had a story and could command any room. He never met a stranger and always had a compliment for whomever he was with. His children remember him as loving and caring with a positive attitude, who was always there with an open mind and solid advice. He was deeply loved by all who knew him. May his memories be a blessing. Dick is preceded in death by Sandra Burt (wife), Tie Davis (Brother) and Doris Sosnowski (Sister). He is survived by his five children: Linda Jo Evans, Richard Woodward Davis (Lynn), Susan Davis Plauche (Jeff), Scott Clifford Davis (Carol) and Leslie Davis, as well as 10 grandchildren: Robert Evans (Jen).
