Norman Gene Gaut's Obituary
Norman Gene Gaut, 84, of Richardson, TX passed away on August 5, 2016. He was born in Jefferson County Kansas on December 29, 1931. He served in the US Air Force and graduated from LeTourneau University with a degree in Engineering. In 1984 he married Beverly D. Holmes. He retired from Lucent Technologies in 1991 and began his much-loved second career as a school crossing guard at Canyon Creek Elementary in Richardson, where he served for 25 years. He was devoted to his family, his Church and his Monday night Bible study group Manstuff at Marriage Mentors. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his love and service to others. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Gaut, his mother, Ida May Stevens, and stepson David Holmes. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Gaut, children, Julie Gaut Freeburg, James Gaut and Stephen Gaut, grandchildren, Spencer and Marissa Gaut, stepdaughter, Deborah Parker, and cousins, Earl Stevens, Verl Stevens, Larry Stevens, Jimmy Stevens, Tom Stevens, Patsy Watson, Sherry Mandell and Jack Rogers. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday August 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, August 11th at Restland, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM in The Chapel at The Heights Baptist Church, 201 W. Renner Road, Richardson, TX. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heights Baptist Church or LeTourneau University Annual Fund.
