Watching the Arizona Cardinals today, I thought of my dad’s friend. On many occasions dad spoke of playing football at Hardin Simmons with Ogden. After our parents died in 2014, I found Ogden’s number and called him a couple times to visit. Although I never met him in person, he was always a joy to visit with.
I only visited with Ogden for a short time but I will never forget him. He told me about his life experiences and of course I was intrigued by his accomplishments. He gifted me his old ping putter over 10 years ago and I still use it to this day. This man was an inspiration to me me. RIP my old friend.
I didn’t know Ogden well, but me and my friend Theresa used to work at Dunkin Donuts and he would come in several times a week to talk to us. I remember he would order a chocolate filled donut and he always asked me if I could go into the back to add more chocolate. He was the sweetest man. Theresa and I have moved along in out careers and life, but we still bring up our friend Ogden when we catch up.
Ogden was probably my favorite client during my more than 30 year career. I always looked forward to meeting with him although he always said he felt like he had left the state by the time he drove to Plano. He was such an interesting man and shared so many stories about his life. I am sorry for his loss.
