Dear Faye was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Wootten in 2000, her daughter, Lisa Wootten in 2000 and her son, Keith Wootten in 2005. Faye (“Grammy”) is survived by her beloved grandson, Owen Michael Wootten (who misses her dearly), and a great niece, Cindy Bettes. Faye is also survived by her devoted and grieving extended family: Owen’s maternal grandparents, Jan and Bob (Robin) Vaughan, Owen’s mother and stepfather, Holly Vaughan (Wootten) Valadez and Orlando Valadez, Owen’s sister, Mary Emily Valadez and Owen’s uncle and aunt, Rob and Dee Dee Vaughan. Faye is also remembered by her close neighbor, Linda Armstrong as well as by her neighbors, Tia and Don Lambert. Finally, continuing to miss her “Grammy Faye” every day is her cherished four legged furry friend, Lilly Marlene. Oleta Faye Wooten was born on January 17, 1932 in Hawley, Texas. She graduated from Abilene High School and was an alumna of Hardin-Simmons University where she studied music. During both high school and college Faye frequently presented performances in voice and piano. On August 12, 1951, Faye and Clarence were married in the Chapel of Memories in Abilene, Texas and the wedding service was performed by Reverend E. P. Wooten, the groom’s father. Clarence was a World War II veteran and graduate of Baylor University. After several job locations in Texas, Faye, Clarence and their children made their permanent home in Richardson, Texas in 1965. Over the years Faye worked as a church secretary and eventually settled into a long-time career with the Texas State Department of Rehabilitation. Faye will always be remembered for the music in her heart and in her life. She enjoyed listening to jazz, bursting out in song and playing the piano. Faye’s true calling was caregiving! She provided for Lisa’s needs from the time she was a small child until her death in 2000, for Clarence (after a major stroke in 1986) until his death a few months prior to Lisa’s death and for Keith during the two years prior to his death in 2005. With her enduring loving heart Faye was always available to care for her adored grandson, Owen, right up to the time of her death. Her extended family truly appreciates Faye and treasures her as an integral part of their family, especially by her sister in Christ, Jan Vaughan. A special thanks to Mr. Charles M. (Mickey) Hunt, Esq. for his kind attention to Faye’s final wishes. A graveside service will be held at Restland Funeral Home, Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 2:00 PM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. Knowing Faye’s love of animals, a donation to ASPCA would be a loving remembrance.
