Orville "Lee" Hudson's Obituary
Orville “Lee” Hudson, 79, a beloved father, grandfather “Poohpa”, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020. Lee was preceded in death by his parents James Kelly and Iva Faye Hudson.
Lee was born in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1960 and was recruited to play football for then East Texas State (now Texas A&M - Commerce). Lee played three years as a starting Linebacker for the East Texas Lions. During his senior season, Lee was named a First Team All-American by three different organizations and won All-Lone Star Conference honors all three years playing for the Lions. He was voted MVP in both his junior and senior seasons. Following his collegiate career, Lee was drafted in the 13th round (98th overall) in the 1964 AFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. In 1992, Lee was inducted into the Texas A&M - Commerce Athletic Hall of Fame.
In 1967, Lee began coaching football at Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas, where he was an inspiration to many of his players on and off the field. Following his coaching days, he began working in sales with SpecTape and in 1973 moved to Houston, TX to run the Houston division for the company.
Lee continued a long career in sales, moving back to Dallas in the 1990’s with Halo Marketing where he was continually top in sales. He was responsible for landing one of their largest accounts at that time, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company. He ultimately opened his own successful Marketing agency, Hudson Marketing and upon retirement moved to Oklahoma City to help his youngest daughter with her growing business in Wellness.
Lee touched the lives of so many and will be truly missed. He is survived by his brother Kelly Hudson, daughter Keleigh McAuliffe (and son-in-law Kevin McAuliffe), daughter Ashleigh Muse Brownlow (and son-in-law Jake Brownlow), son Blake Hudson (and daughter-in-law Amber Hudson) and his 6 grandchildren; Keaton McAuliffe, Chloe McAuliffe, Kassidy Muse, Kaden Muse, Jocelyn Hudson and Kallee Hudson.
A graveside ceremony for family and close friends will be held January 14, 2021 at 11:00 am.
