She also still managed to make time to continue to work in private practice on a part time basis, most notably with the Nelson-Tebedo Community Clinic for AIDS Research in Dallas, TX and Children’s Medical Center Dental Clinic in Dallas, TX, both of which she absolutely loved. She retired in 2019 as the Executive Director of the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene and as Professor Emeritus.

Patricia will be most remembered for her fierce love for her children and family, ability to sit and listen and do her best to guide others through tough situations, her feisty, firecracker personality, quick wit, sense of humor and most of all for being the pillar of strength not only for her children, but also for anyone’s path she crossed. One of her former students described her with the most perfect and accurate words, “she was the definition of ‘doing it her way’ and was a "single-handed powerhouse.”
Mom, we know you were so proud of us and we promise to do our best to continue to make you just as, if not more proud for the rest of our lives. And be proud to know that you and your ‘single-handed powerhouse’ strength are the sole reason you have 2 ‘single-handed powerhouse’ children who love you and are more proud of you than you will ever know. Love, Audra & Jay
