01-05-17 Dear Winslett famiy, My deepest condolences for your loss. I was a student in Mrs. Winslett?s class in 4th grade. I remember her as loving, kind, and patient. She was a wonderful teacher. She is one of many teachers that inspired me to go into the field of education. After many years in the classroom, I am now an Assistant Principal of an elementary school in Southern California. My memories include her making learning fun and her talking about her boys. I think we even had a party for her birthday. I also remember that she wore a beautiful gold charm bracelet. It made a tinkling noise as she wrote on the board. Because of that memory, I have a love for charm bracelets and often think of my 4th grade teacher when I look at and wear them. No words I can write will ease the pain of your loss, but I wanted you to know that she touched my heart and I am sure she is remembered by many of her former students. I no longer live in Dallas. While visiting my mother this week, she showed me the obituary and asked if I had Mrs. Winsett as a teacher. I immediately recognized her. I was looking through some old photos to take home and came across this class picture. I thought you might like to have a copy. Again, I am terribly sorry for the loss you feel. She will be missed. Sincerely, Dr. Deborah R. Meraz (She knew me as Debbie Rathvon. I am in the first row to the far right on the end.)
