I met Petra in 1969. I had talked Dr. Foster and Dr. McGarry at the medical school into letting me do a hight school project with them. Petra was their head technician and when we met she gave me the, "Who is this little boy look." We went on to become great friends. I learned so much about medical research techniques from her; how to organize your test and how to run so many experiments. And Petra was so much fun to work with.
We both loved food! I would trade her my chopped liver mix for her dad's jalapeƱo relish. When we felt like celebrating we would lunch at Herrera's on Maple, and we did that a lot. We kept in touch after I went to college. I returned to the medical school for work and we continued our lunches. I made sculptures and Petra would come to my openings at 500 Exposition Gallery. Petra gave me on of my happiest memories when she bought on of my sculptures.
I am very saddened by her death. I was so lucky to have met Petra. My condolences to all who loved her.
