Petra Contreras' Obituary
Petra Contreras lived a life marked by intelligence, resilience, and devotion to family. A strong believer in education, she graduated second in her class from Holding Institute in Laredo, Texas. She earned a degree in Medical Technology and was a member of the Pathology Association. Petra worked at the Wadley Blood Center, contributing to the study of blood disorders, and later earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors from Southern Methodist University. She went on to serve as a researcher at UT Southwestern Medical Center until her retirement.
After losing her mother at the age of twelve, Petra assumed a caregiving role for her younger siblings, making personal sacrifices that reflected her deep sense of responsibility and love for family. These qualities defined her throughout her life.
Petra was preceded in death by her brother, Benjamin Contreras. She is survived by her siblings Frances Dolores Williams of Sherman, Texas; Manuel A. Contreras of Richardson, Texas; and Daniel Contreras of Mesquite, Texas, along with many nieces and nephews who will remember her kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength.
