Raymond Ray Perez's Obituary
Raymond Perez, cherished spouse, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on October 2, 1939, in Kansas, Raymond lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. He was a guiding presence to his family and a loyal friend to all who knew him.
His years of service began in 1959 when Raymond joined the US Navy. He proudly sailed the world’s oceans aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard where he started his lifelong love of electronics. He was a dedicated Radar technician until he left the service in 1962.
Upon returning to Kansas, he married his lifelong Sweetheart and Bride, Lucy. Together they set out for Texas where they built a life and family.
Throughout his life, Raymond was known for his unwavering work ethic beginning at Texas Instruments followed by 25+ years at Electrospace/Raytheon. His work in electrical engineering help pioneer government technology that was integral in the F-111 and the Space Shuttle Programs. He was especially proud of helping in the development of the groundbreaking TFR technology that is still used today. Upon retirement, he found joy and purpose in learning, guiding and educating others in his faith and church. He continued his religious education by attending University of Dallas, earning a degree.
He cherished spending his free time with his family wherever and whenever he was asked. He shared stories and created as many memories with us individually as he did with us as a family- memories that will be treasured forever. He will be remembered for his warm smile, gentle spirit, and the legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind.
Raymond is survived by his wife Lucy Perez and their children, Anthony and wife Jill, Debbie and husband Chris, Maridelyse and husband Steve, Elizabeth with partner Jr also by grandchildren, Chris, Julie, Greg, Holley, Ryan, Ethan, Shelby, Kellan and Kamryn. He was preceded in death by his parents Mauro and Mary Perez, his sister and brother in-law Bob and Virginia Garcia, infant sister Martha, brother in-laws Richard Herman and Gary Parker, sister in-laws Jane Perez and Celia Perez, nieces Yolanda and Anna Maria, nephews Mark and Eric and Christopher. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
For his SLAP brothers and SLAPette sisters, his friendship was true, his love for you all is infinite and your stories are legendary. Thank you for every bit of it.
A memorial service to celebrate Raymond’s life will be held on December 9th at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church at 950 Trails Parkway, Garland TX with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Operation Kindness or the charity of your choice.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
