Rex G. Gentry, Sr.'s Obituary
Rex G. Gentry, Sr., passed away on his 91st birthday on July 8, 2019. Mr. Gentry was born to Henry Edgar Gentry and Lura Belle Reid Gentry on July 8, 1928, in Desdemona, Texas.The youngest of three children, Mr. Gentry attended school in Robstown, Texas and grew up in Eastland County. It is there at the outbreak of WW II, he followed both brothers into military service and served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific. He learned to be an exceptional aircraft mechanic and loved working on engines. On his discharge from the Army, Rex moved to Dallas, Texas and worked as an airline mechanic for Trans Texas Airways. While working for TTA he met his beloved wife, Alberta. On May 26, 1955, Mr. Gentry married Alberta in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Gentry also worked for Continental Airlines and retired after over 40 years as an airline mechanic. He was a devout father/grandfather, loyal veteran, and dedicated employee.In 2015, Mr. Gentry was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and battled complications from the disease until July 8, 2019. His family takes great comfort in knowing he is now with his beloved, Alberta.Mr. Gentry is survived by his children: Colonel (R) Robin and (his wife) Cydnee Gentry and Mr. Glenn Gentry; Grandchildren: Miss Taylor Gentry and Mr. Ethan Gentry; Sister in law: Mrs. Georgia Gentry; nieces, nephews, and close friends.Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Restland’s Abbey Chapel.
