Richard was a very loving person. A previous friend. I have fond memories of the water balloon fundraiser for the Rainbow girls. It was his idea. It was so much fun. We will miss him, however we know he is walking with our Lord and savior. Our love and prayers are with you. Patricia and Gordon Parham
Rich was a dedicated servant of Christ, with a pastor's heart for his people. He was a caring person, a good husband and father. Richard was the first Presbyter of the Reformed Episcopal Church I ever met, and it was through him that I met Bishop Royal Grote, and eventually made it my home. He was a reference for me when I transferred to the REC, and when I candidatesd at my present parish over 20 years ago. We became very close friends over the years. We preached in each other's pulpits, spoke often, shared times of joy and sorrow and raised a glass or two. May he rest in peace from his labors here and go on from strength to strength, growing in grace in his new service in Heaven. He will be greatly missed here below. Richard was our family minister for 18 years. In those years he helped my husband with confirmation, married our two daughters, christened our 4 grandchildren, gave pastoral care to my father (drove to Canada to visit him when it was necessary for my parents to return to Canada for medical reasons), was the celebrant at my fathers funeral and was our friend. My favorite pictures of Richard are after the christenings he would hold the babies and his smile said it all. He was a preacher, teacher and good friend. Richard Barnard welcomed a complete stranger literally off the street into his office asking for guidance with her mother's funeral arrangements. His warmth and willingness to help a grieving daughter will never be forgotten. Later he confirmed both my husband and son. He was a great teacher, full of wit and intellect. I learned so much about history and the Bible from his teaching. The Chapel was not the place for us after he left, but the world was a better place for his time here with us.
