Richard Barnard's Obituary
Richard Barnard was born in Indianapolis, Indiana 1951, and went to be with the Lord March 18,2017 in Plano, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Zuma L. Barnard; sister, Rosalind Bogan. He is survived by his father, John H. Barnard; wife, Paula; son, John and wife, Michelle; son, Kevin and wife, Charmaine; daughter, Sheli Weiss and husband, Allan; son, Adam and wife, Beqi, sister, Rhonda Atwood; 6 grandsons, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Richard was a minister in the Reformed Episcopal Church and served 18 years at The Chapel of the Cross, Dallas, TX and most recently at Christ Church Anglican Ft Worth, TX. Before serving at The Chapel he was Director of Communications for the International Bible Society, and while there he was a regular participant in the monthly White House Forum for Religious Organizations during the Reagan Administration. He represented the Bible Society at public and private events, traveling to Central America, Europe, Africa and Asia. He served as Chaplain of the Day for the United States House of Representatives July 26,2006 at the invitation of The Honorable Michael C. Burgess of Lewisville, TX He is the author of two books and numerous articles, and is also a Past Master of Roy Stanley Masonic Lodge in Dallas. Richard was known for his sense of humor, kindness, humility, but most of all his love of God and his service. He was an eloquent speaker, teacher, writer and minister. He is dearly loved by his wife, children and the many whose lives he touched. Family will receive friends March 30, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas. Service will be held on March 31, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Church of the Holy Communion, 17405 Muirfield Drive, Dallas, Texas 75287. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkinson Voice Project. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
