Richard Paul Hatley's Obituary
Richard (Rick) Paul Hatley, 84, a resident of Duncanville, Texas for 49 years, passed away July 15, 2025, in Allen, Texas. He was born in Dallas, Texas March 11, 1941. Rick was raised in Oak Cliff where he attended Trinity Heights Elementary, Boude Story Jr. High, and Adamson High School. He graduated from Adamson in 1959. From there he attended college at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma (presently Southwestern Oklahoma State University) where he studied Pharmacy. After college he worked in the family Pharmacy in Irving, Texas and later at Hatley's Pharmacy in Oak Cliff with his father, the founder. Rick loved sports but he especially loved baseball. He played as a young boy on several teams then continued playing throughout high school. He was an avid Texas Rangers Baseball Fan.
Rick also had a love for fast cars. He got his first car at age 15. He continued that love for fast cars with his corvettes.
Rick had many friends in which he kept in contact. He was a fun-loving, generous man with a sarcastic, dry humor who could always be counted on to help. He will be missed greatly by so many.
Rick was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Jane Roberts Hatley; father, Paul Edwin Hatley; mother: Emma Ruth Hatley. Rick is survived by his sister, Penelope Hatley Conway, and husband Michael of Melissa, Texas; son Kenneth Paul Hatley of Duncanville, Texas; stepsons, Jerry Hatley and wife Tammy of Dallas, Texas; Kenneth R. Hatley and wife Christy of Denison, Texas; step grandson, Kyle Hatley of McKinney, Texas; nieces Heidi Schweitzer and Natalie Ortiz, nephews Scott Schweitzer and Clay Dilday.
