Richard Melvin Raitt's Obituary
Raitt, Richard Melvin ~ Was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 30, 1939 and passed away in Plano, Texas on February 11, 2011. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Lee Raitt and father, Nathan C. Raitt. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Philadelphia in 1957 and from DeVry University in 1964. He is survived by Judith Karen Raitt, wife of 50 years, son, Michael Raitt and wife Carla, son, Terry Raitt, daughter, Laura Sanders and husband Justin, five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Richard was Licensed as an Amateur Radio Operator, member of the First United Methodist Church of Plano, Scouting Goodwill Ambassador to Mexico, Co-founded the International Scouting Committee of Circle Ten Council, Boy Scouts of America, Plano, TX, Volunteer Citizen of the Year nominee, 1981, founder of the North Texas Amateur Radio License Training and Volunteer Examiner Team, Recipient of the International Scouter’s Award and Vigil Honor of the Order of the Arrow, BSA. He retired from Alcatel USA in 2001. Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Restland Funeral Home and graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Restland Memorial Park.
